ALL OVER MICHIGAN

For 3 months old, KJ sure does travel around a lot. We are trying very hard to work him into our busy lives, making him adapt to being out and about. Aiming to keep adult normalcy while we still can...the more kids that come along, the more we will be tied to the house!

On Friday, the whole family took a trip down to Comerica Park to watch the Tigers. While we only stayed for enough time to get a hot dog and watch a couple of innings, it was still a nice time. It was KJ's first game and the staff kept telling us to go to Customer Relations because they had a certificate for first timers. Numerous people would stop us and tell us about the certificate. So, before we left the diamond, we stopped. Five minutes of our life wasted! We were handed a piece of white paper with a faded photocopy of a certificate and the lady at the desk wrote KJ's name and the date on it with a blue felt tip pen. Seriously, I think I will design one for the Tigers and send it to them so they don't embarrass the franchise any longer.

KJ and I drove to Kalamazoo on Saturday for the rest of the weekend. We were able to meet Izzy for the first time at her baptism on the 26th. You can't judge by their size, but Izzy is a week older than KJ. In fairness, KJ was a week late and Izzy came a month early. It was great to see Jess, Mike and Izzy and we can't wait for them to move back to Michigan soon.

We spent the rest of the weekend with Grandma and Grandpa, traveling all around to see the rest of our Kalamazoo family. For being dragged all over the place, KJ was a doll.

WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?

What a big boy. Our little guy is officially 3 months old. He weighed in at 14 pounds, 12 ounces and 26 inches long at the doctor's office and continues to amaze me as he outgrows some of his 6 month clothing! What a weed.

KJ is working on a lot of motor skills now- reaching for toys, trying to find his feet and constantly chewing on his hands. I don't know how he stays hydrated with all of his drool. Thank goodness that people give babies a free pass on gross things like drool.

KJ is still going to physical therapy for his torticollis, but he is making good progress. He should only need to go for a couple of more weeks, with Kurt and I working with him at home for a few more months. Man, this parent thing is a lot of work.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

The family took a trip to Whitehall, Michigan to celebrate the 4th of July. We stayed at the Kniff's cottage and had a wonderful time with Trudy, Doug, Jeremy, Katrina, Grandma and Grandpa.

It was KJ's first time in the swimming pool. He is a water baby. He loved the warm water and was sad to get out. I was a bit neurotic and only had him in the water for a little while to make sure that he didn't get too much sun.

KJ was also excited to spend quality time with a few of his favorite people, getting lots of hugs and kisses.

2 MONTHS OF FUN

Hard to believe it, but KJ is more than 2 months old already and growing into a full-fledged baby, not a newborn. He weighed in at 13 pounds and measured 24 1/2 inches at his 2 month check-up. Growing by the day. Nothing can beat the big smile that I get in the morning when I go up to his room to get him out of bed. He loves to hear "good morning"!

He is sleeping really well. He decided that his bed time is between 9:30 and 10:30 for now. He will sleep for 5 to 6 hours, eat once and go back to bed for another 2 to 3 hours. Now we just have to work on some fussiness during the day and he will be golden. He loves to tell us stories and smile while talking to us.

I surely still remember what life was like before I had him, but I am glad that he is apart of our lives now. With all that he has added to our lives already, I can't imagine it as he continues to grow.

KJ'S BAPTISM

Sunday, June 15th was a special day for both Kurt and KJ. While Kurt celebrated his first Father's Day, KJ was baptized.

KJ did a great job, only getting a little fussy right before the water hit his head. He loves getting his hair washed, so he was so happy to have some water poured over him. Father Steve enjoyed giving KJ a mohawk after his blessing. After the ceremony, we went back to the house for a lunch in KJ's honor. We were joined by lots of family and friends, including KJ's Godparents, Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Katrina. It was a great day.

HEY, HEY HOCKEYTOWN

KJ celebrated this past week with daddy because his Red Wings won the Stanley Cup. KJ was a true fan, watching every game with his dad. He made sure that no one missed a playoff game this season, coming into the world on a day off and being an extra good boy during the games. Kurt managed to scare him a couple of times by getting excited about a goal while KJ was sleeping on him.

KJ is smiling all the time and can keep himself occupied for 10 to 15 minutes a few times a day by playing with his mobile and gym. He is also starting to sleep better at night, giving his mom 4 to 5 hours at a time.

MEMORIAL DAY FUN

KJ is growing by leaps and bounds. We visited the doctor on May 23rd and he weighed in at 11 pounds, 8 ounces and 23.5 inches-- a growth of more than 3 pounds and 2 inches in the past five weeks. I guess that he is a good eater!

The entire family went home to Kalamazoo for Memorial Day following KJ's well baby check-up. He was able to meet Uncle Brad and DJ for the first time. He was so happy to be around all of his uncles and the rest of the Kalamazoo clan. It was a awesome weekend.
